The new Swiss cycling magazine Gruppetto celebrates messenger culture. When the small Zurich based team published their first issue in 2023, they printed a portfolio of Andy Zalan, the messenger from Washington D.C. who has documented almost every single Cycle Messenger World Championship since the beginning.
In their newest issue, the Grupetto team portrayed three messengers from Zurich who worked and partied hard to bring together messengers from all over the world. Gruppetto even proclaimed Zurich the capital of bicycle messengers in a headline. Which of course is a bit of an exaggeration. But see for yourself in this issue’s article about Roli Munz, Iwon Müller and Luk Keller, if you can get your hands on a copy. Even if you can’t read German, you still get to enjoy the work of Irina, a designer and messenger from Lucerne. Their comic dives straight into the wonderful world of messenger culture, while also pointing out some of the issues we still need to work on.
The magazine will be available at this year’s CMWC in Zurich. Gruppetto also donated some of their highly sought after merchandise for the raffle. With a bit of luck you can win hats, bidons, shirts and even a one-year subscription.
Gruppetto Magazine was founded in 2023 by a small team of editors and designers, two of whom, Laurent and Pascal, work for the local messenger companies Veloblitz and Flash. The magazine is published four times a year in German. You can have a look at the magazine and/or subscribe here: gruppetto-magazin.ch. And check out their content on instagram: @gruppettomag
On Monday, August 5, they will take you on a group ride into the beautiful surroundings of Zurich. The ride starts at 11 AM at Turbinenplatz. It will be a great recovery ride after the party.
